Frequently Asked Questions

The American Optometric Association recommends an infant eye exam at 6 months, followed by another exam at 3 years old. School-aged children should have eye exams every one to two years, or more frequently if recommended by the doctor.

Please bring your child’s health insurance card, a list of any medications they are taking, and any previous eyeglass or contact lens prescriptions they may have (if applicable).

If the exam reveals a potential eye condition, our optometrist will discuss the findings with you and recommend the most appropriate course of treatment. This may involve vision therapy or referral to a pediatric ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) for further evaluation or specialized care.

Most vision insurance plans cover a portion of the cost of a pediatric eye exam. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to understand your specific coverage details.
